Our Story

From the brand archive: the Guangzhou showroom, pictured in the Chinese-language company profile.

Centurial Master, known in Chinese as Shiji Mingjia (世纪茗家), brings together Xinhui chenpi and Chinese tea. Our story began in 2006 with the development of chenpi tea products, and grew through citrus cultivation, a growers’ cooperative and a production base in Xinhui.

Centurial Master and Shiji Mingjia

Centurial Master is the English name used here for 世纪茗家 (Shiji Mingjia). This Canadian storefront is operated by CENTURY MASTER TEA&FOOD INC. For business contact information, visit our Contact page. Our three featured chenpi and mandarin Pu-erh selections ship from Guangzhou, Guangdong, China; the business contact address and a product’s dispatch origin describe different things.

Where did our story begin?

Xinhui, in Jiangmen, Guangdong, is the home of the mandarin-peel tradition at the centre of our collection. Chenpi means aged mandarin peel. It can be enjoyed as an ingredient in its own right, while mandarin Pu-erh brings peel and tea leaves together. Understanding that distinction is a useful first step into our world.

The brand’s Chinese-language history records the development and trial production of chenpi products in 2006, including an early chenpi Pu-erh selection. It records formal registration and full operations in 2008. We describe 2006 as the beginning of the story; the later registration is a separate milestone.

How did the brand develop?

  1. 2006 · An early beginning

Development and trial production of products bringing Xinhui mandarin peel and tea together.

  2. 2008 · A growing business

Formal registration and full operations, alongside the development of a citrus-growing base.

  3. 2016 · A growers’ cooperative

The establishment of a professional Xinhui mandarin-growing cooperative, connecting the enterprise with participating growers.

  4. 2017 · A production base in Xinhui

The opening of a production base that brought development and making closer to the citrus-growing region.

What connects the grove and the cup?

Our Chinese brand profile describes cultivation, development and manufacturing as connected parts of the business. Its sourcing story includes Xinhui mandarins and tea traditions in Menghai, Yunnan. These places serve different roles: Xinhui is central to the peel, while tea leaves bring their own origins and processing traditions.

Today’s collection includes pure Xinhui chenpi, green and red mandarin Pu-erh, chenpi-and-white-tea selections and tea gifts. Each is a different way to explore the relationship between citrus and tea. The name and ingredients of an individual product tell you which format you are choosing.

Where should a new drinker start?

Start with the ingredient and preparation style that interest you. Pure peel lets you explore chenpi on its own. A mandarin-with-tea selection brings the two materials together. For a gift, consider both the contents and the presentation, and check whether the listing is a complete set or a separate gift bag.

Use our selection guide to compare the formats, then follow the directions for your chosen pack. For a question about ingredients, a batch or preparation, contact our store team with the product name.
